breakfast program volunteer aprons
More than 100 people volunteer their time to The Breakfast Program, many of whom come from outside the church. Some have been part of the Breakfast program since it began, while others begin their first experience in community service with us.

What Do Volunteers Do?

On a typical morning, the first volunteers arrive at St. Andrew’s at 6 a.m. to prepare the hot food. Others arrive at 7 a.m. to set up the serving stations, serve food to guests, clear trays, wash and dry dishes and clean up the kitchen. Volunteers complete their tasks by 9 a.m. and go on with the rest of their day. Some volunteer on a regular basis, often weekly, and others as their schedules allow.

What’s On the Menu?

We serve coffee and tea, juice, fruit, cold cereal with milk, hot oatmeal and grits, hard-boiled eggs, toast with butter, peanut butter and jelly, and assorted baked goods. Lunch bags are available so guests can prepare sandwiches for later in the day.
