Board of Directors
Sarah Baird, President
Sarah has lived and worked in Ann Arbor for 27 years as a Physical Therapist at Trinity Health, an instructor at the Ann Arbor YMCA, and currently as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in private practice. She has volunteered with Ann Arbor Public Schools, Peace Neighborhood Center, Girl Scouts, and The Breakfast at St. Andrew’s since 1998. Through her work and service, she has experience in the areas of fundraising, coordinating events, and promoting wellness in populations with a diversity of needs. Sarah has a sister living with homelessness and food insecurity. This experience informs her belief that personal connections across socioeconomic and cultural lines create resiliency in communities.
Marty Gillen
Marty, member and former Secretary of the St. Andrew’s Breakfast Program Board of Directors, is a retired sales executive with more than 42 years of experience in developing new businesses, training and developing salespeople, and managing multimillion dollar sales and operations budgets. He has also served in many roles in faith-based organizations that include chairperson of annual fundraising campaigns and capital campaigns while also serving as the Senior Warden for six years in his Pennsylvania church prior to moving to Michigan to be closer to immediate family.
Mike Kelly
Mike has lived in the Brighton/Ann Arbor area for the last 22 years. He first became involved with St Andrew’s Breakfast Program as a volunteer over 15 years ago. A Sales Director for Mars Wrigley, Mike has a passion for giving back to his community through his work with St. Andrew’s and Cass Community Services. He also serves on the Leadership Board at Brighton First United Methodist Church. Mike brings his passion for his professional work and community service to his position as a valued member of the Board of Directors of St. Andrew’s Breakfast Program.
Claire McLaughlin, Secretary
In 1996, when she was working as a full-time department head at the public library in Canton Township, Claire and her husband Harry began volunteering two Sundays each month at the Breakfast Program. Now, they volunteer one day each week. The Breakfast at St. Andrew’s has changed a lot in those years, and Claire is so proud to have been part of that development that she decided to serve on the Board of Directors for a second time. Since re-joining the board, she has been elected Secretary, which seems like a good fit for a retired librarian whose term on the St. Andrew’s Church lay governing board recently ended.
Norm Richert, Treasurer
Norm has lived in Ann Arbor and been a member of St. Andrew’s for 26 years. Trained as a mathematician, he spent almost 20 years in academia before coming to Ann Arbor to work for 20 years at Mathematical Reviews, a database of the American Mathematical Society. His first involvement with the Breakfast occurred when he served as leader of a Church School class of middle and high school students. Since retirement, he has devoted himself to directing theatrical productions for St. Andrew’s Theater Ministry. He is treasurer of both the Breakfast Program and the Church.
Chris Turek
Chris is a longtime volunteer with St. Andrew’s Breakfast Program. She began in January 2016, shortly after retiring. Prior to retirement, she worked as a Graphic Artist at Ford Motor Company and as a Department Manager for Bed Bath and Beyond. Her background includes volunteering with AIDS Partnership Michigan and with the First Step Domestic Violence Center. Chris has also served as a volunteer and member of the boards of directors of ReGAP (Retired Greyhounds as Pets), Motor City Greyhound Rescue, and the Southwest Michigan Democratic Club.
